Since our inception more than 34 years ago, Jack’s Truck & Equipment has taken pride in delivering great value to our customers. This philosophy has helped us grow into an industry leader, distributing a full range of heavy construction equipment and commercial trucks throughout Wyoming – everything from scrapers to skid steers and highway tractors to dump trucks. As our many satisfied customers have come to know, Jack’s Truck & Equipment offers not only products and services on which you can depend, but also a convenient, cost effective partnership that will help your business succeed.
Jack’s Truck & Equipment is the premier Freightliner and Western Star truck dealership for Wyoming. We also represent the Autocar brand of low cab forward trucks, Construction Trailer Specialist(CTS) for end, belly, and side dump trailers and Globe lowboy trailers. To support the various types of trucks we sell, we are also the dealer for Henke snow plows and Warren dump boxes. Additionally we have a great inventory of used commercial trucks and trailers for sale. On our heavy equipment side of the business, we are a dealer for New Holland Construction equipment and Gehl construction equipment. We also are the exclusive dealer for Thermdynamics flameless air heaters and have a fleet of used Caterpillar scrapers, motorgraders, and crawler dozers that we rent. Our customers range from the oilfield, mining, and construction industries to municipal, fleet, refuse, owner-operator, and local delivery services. Jack Chafee started the company in 1981 by repairing Caterpillar equipment in Gillette, Wyoming. As Jack’s Truck & Equipment has continued to grow over the years, we continue to be a family owned and operated business, which is now in the second generation of ownership. Jack’s sons Kevin and Richard bought the business from Jack when he retired in 2013. Jack’s Truck & Equipment has three strategically located stores in Wyoming to provide you with the very best in quality service and support when and where you need it. The facilities are located in Gillette, Casper, and Rock Springs.
At Jack’s Truck & Equipment, the customer comes first! We always want to be in tune with your needs. Whether you are a small independent contractor or a large industrial company, we always have time for you. We make it a point to know you and understand your business requirements in order to help you implement the best solutions. That’s how we’ve built such a loyal customer base and employ over 56 full time employees spread across three locations. We’ve come a long way from the one-man operation Jack started over 34 years ago. As Jack’s Truck & Equipment has expanded over the years we’ve continued enhancing our offerings and making our service support even more effective and more efficient. Our prices are always reasonable and friendly, knowledgeable staff is always ready and willing to help. Jack’s Truck and Equipment has four field service trucks that serve the entire state to meet your repair needs no matter where you are, and we go the extra mile to make sure you are satisfied. At Jack’s Truck & Equipment, we know that great customer service is what sets us apart and keeps you coming back.
The business started under the name of Jacks Heavy Equipment Repair in 1981 and was at first only handling repairs on construction equipment. As the business grew we added a parts department to stock parts which sped up repairs. Eventually we added the sale and rental of construction equipment. Our first equipment franchises were Hamm and Daewoo which we started representing in 1997. In 1998 we added the Fiat-Allis line of construction equipment, which ended up becoming part of a major consolidation in the construction equipment industry. The end result of this consolidation was the development of the New Holland Construction product line in 2000. We applied for and became the exclusive dealer for New Holland Construction equipment for the entire state of Wyoming. In 2000, we also started a separate company called Jack’s Truck & Trailer in which we became the exclusive dealer for Sterling commercial trucks. By 2002 we realized that the customer base for both the construction equipment and commercial trucks was very similar and we merged Jack’s Heavy Equipment Repair and Jack’s Truck & Trailer into one corporation doing business as Jack’s Truck & Equipment. In 2002 Sterling Truck Corp bought Western Star trucks based in Kelowna, BC which allowed us to apply for that franchise, and then later that year the Freightliner franchise also became available in Wyoming. We were successful in obtaining that franchise as well, based on our agreement to expand our operations in Gillette and to open a new facility in Casper. We broke ground on 18 acres for the new Gillette facility in 2002 and moved into a 27,000 square foot facility with 13 service bays in January of 2003. We continue to operate out of this facility today. In August of 2002 we opened for business in Casper in a rented facility with 6 service bays, which we quickly outgrew, so in 2005 we purchased 10 acres adjacent to the I-25 and in 2006 built a new 18,000 square foot facility with 12 service bays. In 2004 we recognized the need for service support in the Rock Springs area, so we opened for business in an 8,000 square foot facility with 6 service bays. Once again we quickly outgrew this facility, so in 2008 we broke ground for a new 15,000 square foot facility with 9 service bays.
We have seen many changes over the past 34 years in the construction equipment and commercial truck industries, but today we are proud of our ability to support all the brands we represent across the entire state of Wyoming. Our 55+ employees work hard every day to make sure each and every customer is treated fairly and honestly and that they operate with the highest level of integrity. All of this because we still understand the great need for value in each and every deal. We thank all of our customers for their past, present and future business with us and realize that they truly are the backbone of our company.
